Hilliard Lyons Capital Management is proud of our home, Louisville, Kentucky. The Fleur De Lis symbol, the official seal of the City of Louisville, reflects the City’s history and heritage and was chosen to honor France for its aid given during the Revolutionary War.
History of the Fleur-de-Lis Symbol
The English translation of “fleur-de-lis” is “flower of the lily.” This symbol, depicting a stylized lily or lotus flower, has many meanings. Traditionally, it has been used to represent French royalty, and in that sense it is said to signify perfection, light, and life. Military units, including divisions of the United States Army, have used the symbol’s resemblance to a spearhead to identify military power and strength.
For Hilliard Lyons Capital Management, the Fleur-de-Lis represents our location far away from the emotion and mania of Wall Street, while constantly reminding us of the strength and tradition of our investment philosophy.
